[Sarangi players] have to tune and retune their instrument four or
five times a day and, because of that, I think, they have a deeper
understanding of tunefulness and intonation. Tuning a sarangi is not
a waste of time. One always learns something and penetrates deeper
into the subtle world of sound. It is not easy to tune the sarangi
perfectly. It only happens to me once in a while, when the
circumstances are optimal, when I am in a good and peaceful mood and
when I have time to concentrate.

Arts, Bombay, Volume XV XVI (Sept., Dec. '86 & Mar. '87).
